reminds me a bit of landslide by fleetwood mac. this is a pretty sweet ballad. the long notes sound as if you're straining a lil' bit, but the melody is nice. great song amigo.

Yeah, sorry about the vocals on this one. I had a cold and those high notes were a little to high to reach. I'll redo the vocals when I get the chance, probably add some harmonies and stuff.

the guitar, strings are beautiful on this, no wonder your wife cried, such a beautiful song, you could easily singing your new baby to sleep with this!! Truly wonderful, your voice sounds pretty soothing to me; i particularly like it where it gets, um can't think of the phrase, but its just after "never alone" and it gets a little pacier.. if that makes sense. lovely song.

Thanks for the comments x
I've re-recorded the vocals and I think they're a bit better now. And I've used DMs cool new feature to update the existing file so I don't lose those comments.

This is a very nice song. The guitar, strings and your vocas are all good. I like the chorus where you have the kinda whispered vocs in each ear.
Great work.

OOh... beautiful string arrangement, compliments the guitar melody perfectly. I think you made a good decision in not including drums in this..
Vocals sound good although i'd be tempted to bring it a little more forward in the mix.
Good job..

Kieron, I could talk about the production, the strings, the warm guitar sound and all that good stuff, but the thing that this song has above all else is true emotion.
This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and you're really putting yourself out there for everyone to hear.
I know what this means to you and how you feel about being alone-this song has such a powerful, hopefull, moving message and I have no doubt that you will be a fantastic Dad.
This is just brilliant, I'm all choked up...

yup, nice production, the guitar sound great in the intro nice, crisp and clean. I agree with Traf about the strings towards the end - a very nice touch, I like the fact that you used them sparingly there. Great job!

Breathtaking song Kieron.
Each and every bar is so filled with emotion - yet that doesn't come across as overkill... just perfect for the subject of the song.
You should be real proud of this one. You really have excelled yourself in every way - production, composition and performance.
Beautiful man.

...back again. This time I listened while reading the lyrics and got blown away all over again.
In years to come your child will hear this song and always be comforted by the unconditional love that you are singing about here. Those lyrics really are something else, and when put into the mix with that great melody and arrangement... This has to be one of my all time dmusic favourites.
The only thing stopping me from downloading it is the fact that it is such a personal song, it wouldn't feel right for me to have it. So expect a lot of streaming from me Chaos

Beautiful arrangement Very emotional performance, enhanced by a a very pretty melody. Can't have been an easy song to sing, phrase or convey...but you have managed to reach out and touch your audience...excellent! Frad is right...breathtaking! You're a great writer and performer

So....here we gooo!
I don't know how the vocals were before, but the vocals are not doing it for me. What is nice about the sound of your vocals is it reminds me of Pete Yorn, but I feel your singing could be so much stronger as it's got a good base to build on. Open your mouth wider, let more sound out?
I really like the backing vocals... and the guitar is very nice... There's a break or change and then another sound of violins come in which sound really warm and comfy, like the arms of parents open and ready to receive the child
Isn't it great how we can express our feelings and thoughts through music, preparing yourself for situations, looking back on things that have been and this song is a great example of that. Thumbs up.

This is very pretty. I like the guitar a lot, ya dabble huh?? I'd like to dabble like that Also the lyrics come right outta the which makes for excellence every time. Some people would yap about the strings but not me, I think they work for this song. I need to get over here and pay attention to your stuff cuz I really dig this one. Thank you for posting it here. Hey I like the second voice as well, something with the panning makes it sound really cool. This is something to play for the future generation, by contrast I gotta bury all my stuff before my kids grow up & hear it.

From joenmelice:
This song is wounderful! I especially like the strings, the way you programmed them, fits and sound so well around your vocals, great job here. Although it didn't make me cry, if i were pregnant, i bet i would have! (p.s.-i'm a guy)

When the song started, the chord progression reminded me of a Eddie Brickell and the New Bohemians song called 'Circle', but once your voice came in you took it in a completely different direction. Your voice is outstanding and the song flows magnificently. Personally, I would change the mix a bit....I'd bring down the synth strings, and bring up your voice. But, other than that...I really enjoyed your new song.

musically it seems finnished, very good, about the vocals, if I would not know how demanding the first months of fatherhood would be,I would say, work some more on the vocals. Go a bit more from the belly and like Elly sayd, open the mouth further. Now I have the slight feeling that you are "doing a voice" that is not really yours, in that front I m sure you can show much more of yourself. I admit that vocals are possebly the most intimite of making music, but show yours, they are the best for sure.
The overall effect of the song is cool, your wife is right, and your child to be can count itself lucky with a comming up father like this, you seem all prepared good one

Not the LPO this time but still a great string arrangement on this that brings out the great melodic an harmonic elements of this.. It’s hard to write this sort of song sometimes without sounding over sentimental or cheesy but I think you get this spot on this just hit’s the right emotional note.
The backing voices are very haunting. Sentiment comes across very strongly. Good luck with the birth and I look forward to hearing your version of Cat Steven’s Father and Son sometime in the future.

WOLLEH!
amazing intro... i like the backing vocals.. guitar really nice and just.... i mean, you dont notice it being the main bass of the music, but yea... well layered
3:00 that extra bassy instrument just adds more, really well placed
i like how it comes back from the pause, i mean... it was quite predictable, but the way the guitar comes back in, is really something just a couple of extra notes, but makes it sooo much sweeter to listen to
i'm d/ling this one, man

oh man, this is SO well-recorded. the acoustic/string/vox combo sounds just massive. vocals are some of the best I have heard from you yet. the strings from about 3:30 to the end add just the right build-up to the ending. well done!

Ignore all the criticism of your vocal style... it is YOUR own and if people don't like it that is their problem. This song rocks - and so does the singing.
It would be incredibly boring if we all sang the same way.

You really have a knack for these kinds of ballads. Again this is really well put together and the melacholic feeling really does hit base emotionally for me.
Loved the use of the dual vocal either side of the stereo mix on the chorus, complimented the mood and feel of the piece perfectly.
The other thing I really admire is your use of space, it would be so easy to fill the mix and overdo the strings or add some unneccassary guitar overdubs but you've rather let the song grow naturally and it's that is too your credit.
